On March 17, the Parque de la Exposición in Lima will host what has been billed as Peru's first world music festival. The Festival de los 7 Mares has created quite a buzz, in part due to its headline act.
The multilingual, genre hopping Manu Chao -- a popular figure throughout much of South America -- will close out the one-day event, ably supported by 13 other major acts from Peru and Colombia.
The festival will occupy the whole of Lima's Parque de la Exposición, with as many as 12,000 people expected to attend. Tickets are on sale through Teleticket and at Wong and Metro supermarkets; general tickets cost S/.95 (US$35), not including sales commission.
