There are some major religious festivals during July, including the Virgen del Carmen festivities (various parts of Peru), the Festival de Apóstol Santiago (mainly highlands) and the Fiesta del Sol in Huánuco.
By far the biggest nationwide event, however, is Peruvian Independence Day on July 28. The Peruvian flag will fly high from buildings across the country, with parades and parties taking place throughout Peru on July 28 and 29 (both of which are national holidays).
