Update: the two missing tourists have now been found.
Two 25-year-old American tourists, Garrett Hand and Jamie Neal, have been reported as missing in Peru. The tourists were last seen in Cusco on January 25 and were due to arrive in Lima on January 26.
According to the U.S. Embassy, they were planning to visit Pucallpa after Lima. On February 23, Peruvian police officials released information about eyewitness reports placing the missing tourists in Pucallpa (where they apparently visited the Arco Iris community) followed by Iquitos. Further eyewitness reports then claim to have seen the couple boarding a boat to Ecuador. These details have not been confirmed.
